Cishet women often go as far as calling men “broke” in a grossly weaponised way when calling out patriarchy, while queer and trans people (disproportionately) struggle to find employment and suffer economically as a result of discrimination stemming from the same patriarchy.
I generally don’t endorse any critique that indirectly harms people, especially those who are victims of a more severe state of marginality. It’s reckless and I’m afraid the majority of cishet women aren’t particularly innocent either.
It’s just always been a painful thing to watch because the historical economic exclusion of queer people is intense. Sometimes it starts very early at school level, with queer and trans babies being forced to drop out because of bullying, affecting their lives forever.
But cishet women justify their weaponising of brokeness because “it’s the only way to get to men who benefit from male privilege”, as if the patriarchal violence only exists on a binary that starts with cis men and ends with cis women.
So yes, please do call out people who weaponise serious things but let’s use this as an opportunity to be aware of all the ways we can and have been harmful in our quest to rectify.
