Gutzon Borglum, the sculptor who carved (Lakota would say desecrated) Mt. Rushmore had previously begun, commissioned by the KKK, the Confederate shrine-monument to the failed rebellion to preserve human slavery that is Stone Mountain, GA.
2) Trump celebrating the 4th of July at a #COVID19 super-spreader event at Mt. Rushmore is of a piece with his decision to form a Homeland Security division to protect monuments & statues. Rushmore is, of course, on sacred land stolen (a treaty violation) from the Lakota tribes.
