Thankful to have not seen video of young Syrian boy being sexually assaulted by Lebanese men, one of which is reportedly son of senior Hezbollah official. The thought of it makes me sick - feels like Lebanese racists have no cap when it comes to obscenity. https://english.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2020/6/29/lebanon-trio-sexually-assaulted-syrian-child-video-shows
This story isn't born out of a vacuum, just last year Ahmed, a 14 year old, fell to his death whilst being chased by the police - no action was taken against the police officers. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/01/chased-police-syrian-refugee-child-falls-death-beirut-190125052845414.html
Syrian children (within wider bracket of Syrian refugees) have been subject to exploitation and slavery in Lebanon, with no law to protect them. Children as young as five are working long hours, often in hazardous conditions. Report by Vox: https://www.vox.com/world/2017/7/24/15991466/syria-refugees-child-labor-lebanon
Last summer Syrian refugees were forced to destroy *their own homes* - Leb military also demolished homes of refugees as part of a campaign to force them to return to Syria. Report by HRW: https://www.hrw.org/news/2019/07/05/lebanon-syrian-refugee-shelters-demolished
COVID-19 measures in some Lebanese municipalities discriminate against Syrian refugees by imposing curfews thus limiting access to healthcare, making their situation more difficult given already incredible vulnerability. All the above contravene Lebanon’s international human rights obligations towards refugees, as well as violating Lebanese domestic law. But accountability measures are, for the most part, defect and unavailing.
The situation is dire.

EIGHT people were involved in the assault of the Syrian child! EIGHT. Eight grown human beings. How despicable. https://twitter.com/LebISF/status/1278638636792197120?s=20
