Uni History depts are filled with Starkeys. I had just 1 white female professor, visiting from US. My disso supervisor kept confusing me with the only other brown girl on the course. She was Malay, we weren’t even the same type of brown but I guess we all look the same to racists
History as discipline is just *so* white. It’s difficult having that conversation with some of my students because I want them to pursue it at university but I also have to be honest and just hope they won’t be discouraged. I assume this is true for most humanities subjects.
