Old article (thanks @briecode), but THIS. SO MUCH. I do like a good sword, a good dragon, but am I interested in stress, shock and adrenaline? No. I'll just suffer through them to get to the things I care about: story, emotion, connection, meaning. https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2016-11-07-video-games-are-boring
My guy friends look at me like I'm crazy whenever I say that I don't like feeling stressed in games, that is does nothing for me. Can we break away from this idea that this makes me a "bad" gamer and instead open our minds to the different ways that people connect with media?
I feel like we're seeing more breadth in games lately, particularly indie games. Moar pls.
