Nigerians attitude to safety measure around #coronavirus isn’t just scary, it is causing a lot of harm.

While watching @channelstv News with @seunokin interviewing the Minister of State for Educ & other stakeholders yesterday evening, one of my girls (9y/o) burst out crying /1 https://twitter.com/yodifiji/status/1278383402216022016
I was surprised & panicked thinking it was something else. I drew her closer while she kept crying heavily. She managed to say “I want to go to school”.

TBH, I was heartbroken & shattered. I had to summon the courage to pet her. Apparently the discussion on the TV was gloomy /2
I started asking questions. -Do you want to see your friends? Should we drive round tomorrow? Will you like to see your school?

She was calm a bit & then said “I want to go somewhere”. I took my time to tell her that all the places we can go are not opened bcos of #COVID19 /3
I hope we are getting ready to manage the psychological effect of the lockdown on everyone especially the children (esp those who follow H&S measures).

I try to drive them out for sight seeing & to eateries @ChickenRepublic & @kfcnigeria bcos of their Drive-Through option /4
I recall on Sallah Day (Eid-el-Fitr), we drove all the way to Lekki from Egbeda with food and drinks in the car talking about everything. It was fun & therapeutic.

That was their first time out of the building since Mid-March when everything stopped including Swimming class /5
Everyday, Lagosians are going about without Facemask as if there is no Coronavirus. Sadly, the elites who called it Scam/Malaria contributed largely to the problem.

Irrespective, we must #TakeResponsibility if we want to flatten the curve & end this #COVID19 siege in Nigeria.
