I don’t want to be one of those people who is way too emotionally invested in Progressive insurance commercials but Mara is a low-key hero. I can explain later - gotta go pick a sleep sound that is more aggressive than fireworks for now.
To return to my idea inspired by melatonin last night - this was the first scene where Mara stole the show. She is painfully aware of how bad that bar is and how boring insurance is, upsetting Flo:
The other commercial that Mara destroys in is a Zoom-themed spot. Jamie (who I believe was created to make Flo more relatable) is "pitching" but mostly just saying catchphrases and Mara isn't having it. Mara is great but Alan at the *very* end is the best:
This ad has less plot, as Mara's script appears to have been generated using an AI that read tweets about Zoom meetings and tweets about why people dislike Jamie and Flo. But Mara says what we're all thinking about her coworkers and she *isn't* on mute:
I have been on a Zoom with someone in Mara's situation in this next commercial. The only thing unbelievable here is the texting sound because Mara is a millennial and our phones don't have ringtones or keyboard clicks. Also, I'm growing to dislike Rodney:
