Sikh Rehat Maryada forbids the cutting of one’s hair, yet I don’t see it being used to dehumanize and ostracize sehajdhari Sikhs the way you weaponize it against LGBTQ Sikhs.
Sikh Rehat Maryada forbids the consumption of alcohol, yet I don’t see it being used to abuse and disown Sikhs who drink alcohol the way you weaponize it against LGBTQ Sikhs.
Sikh Rehat Maryada forbids the sexual assault, yet I don’t see many of you Singhs abandon friendships with known rapists the way you desert and ostracize LGBTQ Sikhs.
Sikh Rehat Maryada forbids belief in caste, yet so many of the same account on here bashing LGBTQ Sikhs are harp on about being Jatt.
Sikh Rehat Maryada states that an Amritdhari Sikh should not get married to non-Amritdhari Sikh, yet I don’t see you opposing those hetero Anand Karajs like you snark at the mere idea LGBTQ Sikhs having an Anand Karaj with the person they love.
Y’all treat the Sikh Rehat Maryada as a soft guideline for yourself while you use it to make life a living hell for LGBTQ Sikhs.
Sikh Rehat Maryada was approved in 1945 by the SGPC, not the Khalsa Panth. The SGPC has been known for doing anti-Panthic things like banning women from doing kirtan at Darbar Sahib. This decision is widely criticized yet critics aren’t labeled as heretics.
The SGPC also received a lot of criticism and heat a few years back when they made a statement to denounce and delegitimize the Sarbat Khalsa of 2015. Yet people who opposed the statement of the SGPC were not seen as heretics.
After that decision, SGPC’s Avtaar Singh Makkar was notably opposed when the Sangat drowned out his voice with Jaikaarai in defiance of the SGPC’s decision to pardon the leader of one of India’s biggest cults.

Those people haven’t been labeled as heretical or wrong for criticism
Giving SGPC credit tho, they did consult several rehatname written by previous Gursikhs. The Guru is perfect, but Sikhs are fallible. That’s evident in the manner in which certain rehatname were included but SGPC leave out others (ie Don’t have religious discourse with a Muslim)
That’s why I come back to my original point. You hate LGBTQ Sikhs? Cool. Back up your “opinion” with Gurbani from our Guru to justify it, not manmade conventions that have already been subject to change.
(As per usual, I’m muting this thread. Have fun in the replies.)
