My aunt molly sent my dad articles from a detransition propaganda website after I told her I was on T, and I’d like to share what I sent to her.

“I thought you might be interested to know that according to my doctor and other medical professionals, only 1% of transgender people end up detransitioning,
and almost all of them report that it was because people in their lives did not support them, not because they had actually changed their minds about their genders.
I have been exploring my gender for years, and have been in contact with a slew of psychiatric and medical professionals who all agree that my gender dysphoria is legitimate and persistent.
I understand that many media outlets attempt to portray transgender kids as being misguided or railroaded into transition, but anyone who spent a day in the medical system would know that the opposite is true. It has been a long road for me to get treatment.
Every doctor I have spoken with has had a laundry list of questions for me in order to be absolutely positive that this is the right choice for me.
I’m including links here to resources provided by Cincinnati children’s hospital regarding the transgender experience, and I hope you’ll take the time to explore them.”
And these are the links I gave her:

Trying to figure out exactly what she sent my dad so that I can debunk it for her as well as possible.
Okay, the Pique Resilience Project on YouTube. They claim to be women who were trans and began medical transition, but then either realized they weren’t trans or realized that transition didn’t cure their dysphoria? I’m having a hard time following their videos.
They seem to be pushing the narrative that medical transition is forced as a “one size fits all” procedure onto every trans person. I should make it clear here that I believe there are PLENTY of trans people for whom medical transition is not what they want, for valid reasons!
All trans bodies are good trans bodies. You of course don’t have to medically transition in order to be trans, or in order to live authentically in your gender.
The problem though with the Pique Resillience narrative is they’re trying to say that all trans people are pushed to medically transition, by the medical system. I do believe that there is pressure within trans communities to “pass”, and to transition to that end. BUT!
I have NEVER EVER EVER in the course of all the doctors I’ve seen been in a position where I wasn’t actively trying to convince them I was a valid candidate for medical transition. I have had to jump through so many hoops in order to get where I am.
If I expressed so much as a shred of discomfort with the idea of medical transition, I would not have been able to get testosterone. I have had to advocate for myself and my own credibility nonstop.
I know my experience is not universal, but I think it’s incredibly harmful to present to the world a narrative that trans people are in any way pushed into transition on the whole.
The folks at the pique Resilience Project seem to me to be treating their experiences as reason why trans people should not have access to medical transition. They seem to suggest that all trans people have been marketed medical transition as a cure-all.
I hope I don’t need to explain why this is harmful, dangerous bullshit. It’s one thing to discuss your own experience & acknowledge that not all trans people need or want to transition medically. It’s another to paint us all as incapable of making decisions about our own health.
