Honestly I never thought when I started this account that I'd end up mostly drawing spooky monsters, often for money.

Or that I'd even get *this* far.
I had painted before I made this account, but when I started I was just here to start art from scratch and just post dumb doodles
It's funny in a way it only took a couple of months for me to start taking this seriously, and go beyond silly drawings and things based on games I was playing, to actually putting emotion and thought into it.
I think where I was in life at the time (and many times throughout my now nearly 2 1/2 year career on here) kinda pushed me that way. I can point to every single piece I've done and remember where I was, how I felt. I reckon that was what "unlocked" my potential??
The biggest hurdle was realising I could draw/paint whatever I wanted. Wanna do something weird and unsettling? Go for it. Something that expresses your deepest and darkest? You can paint it! That weird emotion you don't know how to express? Get it on the page.
There have been a few times where I've found myself at dark moments since I started, but I think being able to express that visually, when you feel you can't put it into words, can be a great help. Learning art techniques etc came after that, to reinforce concepts.
From here: Key pivot points in my art career since I started, 1.

This is super early, but this is the first one I said "wait if I wanna draw something like that I just ... can. Who's going to stop me?"
Not long after, this one! The first time I really considered making a scene, adding some emotional flavour (yes I really liked those colours at the time)
I've always considered these few a set. It was a super turbulent time emotionally, and so I cranked up the mood factor massively
This is the point where I ditched line drawing entirely. From this point onwards (and to this day), my process has been "just throw it on the canvas and see where you end up"
My first proper monster piece. This one got really popular on reddit at the time which was really the first time a large amount of people saw my art (I had just over 100 followers at this time)
Immediately after my War of the Worlds inspired series (of which the above was a part), I went right back to moody to cap off 2018
2019 though! Redirected again! This is where story became a thing, and it started with this. I stole the idea for some leaked location photos from TROS, no joke. The bit where the Death Star wreckage is. This started the series that got me my first two thousand followers.
All this culminated in what I think was some of my best work at the time. These were the most complicated things I'd ever done.
I didn't produce anything of note really this time last year. It wasn't until august that I did my next original set. I decided there wasn't enough LGBTQ art, and all my other pieces had kinda only hinted. The third, especially, I felt was easily one of my best pieces.
After that, I took a break from personal work (I was actually getting commissions somewhat regularly at this point). But I began this series, which I'm sure is why a good number of you follow me today! I guess this kinda solidified me as "monster artist".
The new year, I feel, brought an end to phase of my life, and thus returned the moodyness again, jumping right back into symbolism and the like. The third piece- a torch of victory over a wasteland, closed off that period completely. Again- can't say it? Paint what you feel.
Aside from a few portraits I've done, that's basically been my art journey so far, from silly doodles to BIG MOOD. Thanks to commissions I haven't had the change (or often the motivation) to make a lot of art.
But there's a new series coming, I've already got 4 pieces prepped! It's blending a lot of my love of aviation with big spooky monsters, so I really hope you guys enjoy it!
