i just... i just can't for the life of me see how this fractious and intense a discourse abt complex overlapping identities is anything but Extremely Online. i'm not All Queers Ever but boy i do know a lotta queer ppl and the amount of times i have heard anyone be like
"the words u use to describe yourself are problematic and appropriative of other queer identities" in the outside world is. essentially zero.

avery alder has a great thread that i can't find and will crudely sum up as like "what good is theory to the ppl in the street?" 2/
not that theory isn't important or doesn't have a place at all, but like. the conversations that happen in some spaces abt what words to use for who and the material reality of the playful fluidity of identity in a lot of queer communities is such a buckwild disconnect 3/end
