1) At the very least, society can try getting history correct. The war did not "begin" over slavery, The south was seceding from the union in a protest to taxation. 5) The southern populace has the right to honor and revere those men who fought valiantly against taxation without proper representation. Remind you of another war perhaps? That is what the American Revolution was about.
