/ So speaking about The Craft ( @RachelTrue & @fairuza) and “Manon.” I always assumed that Manon was a fictionalized movie version of Baphomet...
/ ...(with perhaps a name reference to the deity Manann of Irish mythology (also known as Manannán or Manannán mac Lir). Hence all the sea, storm and shark imagery connected with him in the movie.
/ Many people don’t know that Pat Devin, a Wiccan High Priestess from Covenant of the Goddess ( @cogtweet) was brought on as a consultant for The Craft, to make the witchcraft as authentic as possible while still completely fictional.
/ For the reboot coming soon they brought on witchcraft author & podcaster Pat Grossman ( @Phantasmaphile) of The WitchWave ( @WitchWavePod) for a similar role.
/ Pat said that the name Manon was inspired by the French movie “Manon of the Spring.” In the story Manon is a sheperdess who plots revenge on men for their misdeeds. Seems fitting.
/ So why do I think Manon is a fictionalized version of Baphomet? Here’s my brief introduction to Baphomet from my book Psychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick, and Manifestation ( @LlewellynBooks).
