Look, my experience with females in the Army has been vastly different from most, specifically those in combat MOSâ.
I was never in a combat MOS and being a Drill Sergeant was the only time I was never in a pretty evenly mixed unit before moving into Recruiting.

There are two different Armyâs. Theyâre just are and this Vanessa Guillen story highlights it. We have long operated in the Army of a male only mindset; where these issues didnât exist. When I came in after 9/11, SHARP didnât even exist 2/
We went over some very basic EO training, but the stuff we check the box on now didnât come into play until after we had already been in Iraq for too long. And the reason we have so many issues today is because those at the highest levels...3/
Didnât come up experiencing or dealing with these issues. Now theyâre in command or advising commanders with no more than the power point knowledge we all get these days. Itâs grossly inept.

The young E6âs and platoon leaders will have to be the facilitators of change as it relates to all of these issues and mishandlings everyoneâs speaking out on.
