Okay, take 2. Here are just a few of the people who are tenured or promoted in academia, effective today. Their new status reflects the judgment and endorsement of their peers that they are terrific scholars and teachers.
First up, @michaelcpollack, promoted at Cardozo law! Michael and I worked together at DOJ and co-authored a paper together on nonprofit law. https://twitter.com/michaelcpollack
. @AENickelsPhD is now tenured at Kent State! You probably already know her from her several books, her work on community development, or her community engagement. https://www.kent.edu/polisci/ashley-nickels
I believe @Prof_Bruckner is now tenured at Howard law. We worked together briefly at CSU, and his work on bankruptcy and higher ed is both excellent and, unfortunately, timely. http://law.howard.edu/faculty-staff/matthew-bruckner
I hear @DanielJHemel is now tenured at UChicago Law. He also writes on administrative law and nonprofit law (but much better!) https://www.law.uchicago.edu/faculty/hemel
I only know her by reputation, but it's a great one! @ProfLupton joins the tenured ranks as well. https://twitter.com/ProfLupton/status/1278295807402348546?s=20
As a historian, she's outside of my field, but even I know she's brilliant: @tnflorvil is tenured! https://twitter.com/tnflorvil/status/1278313511311953923?s=20
Rutgers Public Admin is just full of awesome faculty, not least of all is newly tenured @jiahuan_lu, who works on intersection of nonprofit and government in service delivery. https://twitter.com/jiahuan_lu/status/1278343404536180738?s=20
Another Ohioan tenured is Ohio State's @BLMcKean. Another must follow prof, who also offers insight into the strange world of Ohio politics, and the need for police and criminal justice reform. https://polisci.osu.edu/people/mckean.41
A twitter lurker, my CSU Urban colleague Clayton Wukich, is now tenured. His steady voice has lead multiple graduate programs and established himself as a leader in the department. He researches emergency management and use of social media by govt. http://facultyprofile.csuohio.edu/csufacultyprofile/detail.cfm?FacultyID=r_wukich
I know I've forgotten many fantastic scholars. (Send me a note and I'll add you.) The profession is lucky to have you, and I know you will continue to do great work and use your position to make the world better. Congrats!!
If you're feeling rejected rather than celebrated today, I see you, too -- in fact, I'm right there with you! Titles are nice but are neither necessary nor sufficient to do great things in the profession, in research, in teaching, and the world.
You can follow @JosephWMead.
