Just read a column in @ArkansasOnline about the United Confederate Veterans Reunion here in LR in May 1911. It must have been the most terrifying and frightening days for black folks in the history of this city.
140,000 people ascending upon your city to celebrate the losing side of a war that was fought over the economics of keeping your people enslaved. A 3 mile parade of white supremacy, that Nathan Bedford Forrest (KKK) Infantry marched in.

Wonder if this was a glamorous and grand event for the cities black residents, wonder why the only black folks you see in the video are standing in the streets serving, wonder if this is the type of event we would put a statute up for today.
Until we change our scope, and frame of reference, we will continue to be trapped in the fallacies of history. May 16,17, and 18th of 1911, was a historical event in the city, but it’s not one we should be proud of. @ArpxFeed @ArkansasOnline
