Hey @OxfordshireCC @_Liam_Walker_ @ianhudspeth we heard that you scored 10/20 on the tranche 1 proposal for walking and cycling.

We really want to work with you so that you score 20/20 on the tranche 2 proposal so we can #BuildOxfordshireBackBetter 🏃🏾‍♀️👨🏾‍🦯🧑🏾‍🦽🚴🏾‍♀️🚶🏾

Here’s how... /1
Looking at the letter @grantshapps sent you, it’s clear that this funding is for really ambitious projects to ‘promote cycling as a replacement for journeys previously made by public transport’ and is ‘weighted towards areas that have high levels of public transport use’ /2
If we look at what this means for Oxfordshire, we can see clearly that there is a very high dependency on public transport in Oxford City, compared to other areas of the county /3
In the @transportgovuk @grantshapps letter it says these measures are ‘especially for short and local journeys which can now be cycled’. Bus journeys are the most obvious type of journey to be replaced by cycling.

Oxford City represents 49% of all Oxfordshire's bus journeys /4
Therefore, 49% of the indicative money put aside for @OxfordshireCC is intended by @transportgovuk @grantshapps and national govt to be spent in Oxford City, to promote cycling and walking infrastructure

/5
To #BuildOxfordBackBetter, we ask for:

1) Connecting Oxford Plus (seven bus gates)
2) Wider Pavements and Segregated Cycle Lanes on Arterial Roads
3) Full, end-to-end Park & Pedal

We are confident these proposals will meet @transportgovuk and @grantshapps 's criteria for bold and ambitious plans to create a modal shift towards green active travel and score 20/20 on the tranche 2 proposal bid /8
We want to work with you to see this become a reality. Therefore, we would love to put you in touch with our friend the Deputy Mayor of @ghentinternatio Ghent in Belgium, who delivered these plans to much success (including his best ever election result the following year 😉) /9
so that you can ask him all the details and questions about how to implement this plan and do it well. We would also love to invite @OxfordshireCC Director of Public Health @AnsafAzhar, who has so brilliantly highlighted the hidden inequalities in Oxon, to learn how these /10
plans will also deliver great improvements for public health. @AnsafAzhar has outlined how improving our built environment is key to improving social community and ultimately the health and wellness for the county (6 out of 10 of Oxon's move deprived wards are in Oxford) /11
We want to work with you to run a large public engagement campaign, to go alongside your Active Travel consultation, so these plans have broad public buy-in and support across the City /12
And we also want to work with you to make sure this works to #BuildOxfordshireBackBetter too! Beyond this campaign, we want to work with you to help connect the County as a whole with more green and active transport to deliver a better future for all of Oxfordshire /13
So, @OxfordshireCC @_Liam_Walker_ @ianhudspeth , please reach out to us and we would love to work with you on the tranche 2 proposal, to #BuildOxfordBackBetter and #BuildOxfordshireBackBetter
