At a time when Queens became the epicenter of a worldwide pandemic, we were faced with unforeseen challenges. Nonetheless, we persisted. New Reformers advocated for small "d" democratic reforms, such as #SafetyOverSignatures...

...where we demanded that petitioning requirements be lowered to lessen the in-person contact with voters. We volunteered throughout Queens with our local mutual aid networks making sure our neighbors had access to food, medicine, and supplies.

Then over the next few months, we advocated for a #HealthyDemocracy to ensure all voters had the chance to make their vote count. That included advocating for statewide mail-in ballots to reduce the crowds at polling sites.

We take our democracy seriously, and we strongly believe every vote must be counted. Unlike the current occupant of the White House, we believe our votes matter - whether they were mailed in or cast during early voting or on Election Day.

As New Yorkers, we have a responsibility to uphold the integrity of our elections to the highest standards. We can lead by example and show our nation just how a multi-racial, multi-generational, and multi-class democracy can succeed.
