According to International Humanitarian Law, attacks at public places where there is possibility of civilian casualty, is wrong. Then deliberate deployment by armed forces in civilian areas creates a situation of human shield, which is equally wrong.
Some facts which so far have emerged about today’s firing incident at Sopore reveal:

1. Militants attacked armed forces and killed 1 soldier & injured 3 more personnel.
2. Government claimed civilian was killed in the firing by militants.
3. The civilian killed was in his vehicle alongwith his grandson.
4. Pictures & video of the deceased lying on the street alongwith his grandson were perhaps taken & circulated by armed forces.
5. Family of the victim claims, he was dragged out from the vehicle and shot in retaliation by armed forces after they came under attack by militants.
6. Police claims there was no retaliatory fire from their side.
7. According to journalists and some local people vehicle of the deceased didn’t have any bullet marks or blood stains.

Now the only way truth can be established is by holding a impartial investigation, which otherwise also according to law should be conducted,
but that is unlikely to happen, as the police has already imposed its version according to which civilian was killed by militants.
Based on the above it can be concluded that the civilian was not killed inside his car and was perhaps killed outside his vehicle, either while running for cover or ‘someone’ brought him out and then killed.
Police captured the pictures & video of the child & shared it without the consent of his parents, which itself is a crime. Then senior police officers, instead of announcing that a fair investigation will be carried out, pronounced the verdict on yet another bloody incident.
