UPDATE on the Government’s landmark Domestic Abuse Bill - some brilliant developments over the last few days following our conversations with a wide range of stakeholders @RobertBuckland

⬇️
1⃣ We have amended the Bill to explicitly recognise that children are victims of domestic abuse in their own right, opening up the support and services they need to overcome their traumatic experiences. Thank you to @NSPCC for raising this crucial issue with us.
2⃣ We have published a clause to end so-called ‘rough sex defence’ which enables perpetrators to avoid justice by claiming their victims consented to rough sex. Our thanks to @mark4wyreforest, @HarrietHarman, @Wecantconsentto, @GraziaUK and others for their relentless campaigning
We remain absolutely committed to tackling domestic abuse, making sure that victims receive the support they need, while perpetrators feel the full force of the law.
