So...1. Not to be rude but: do people who want to rethink the Atlantic bubble over two new cases think we can plausibly be COVID-free for the duration of the pandemic? Public-health experts have stressed that we'll be isolating and quashing new infections for a long time to come. https://twitter.com/TwitCoast/status/1278350224155705344
2. Zero cases for 20 days is extraordinary. Zero forever is an aspirational goal, but barring a full, indefinite lockdown, it won't happen. We're all reacting to this novel threat with differing levels of anxiety and risk tolerance. No one should feel bad for being scared.
3. But total lockdown and severe travel restrictions within our own country can't go on indefinitely. We've wrestled this thing under about as much control in our region as we're going to. We're not Florida, and we need to take steps out of self-imposed isolation.
4. It’s hard to express this, of course, because it reads like you're some wacko libertarian advocating to do like the United States. But a new case now and then is not failure; it's part of the public-health game plan. We have to live with this now. /FIN
