Hi, me again - former CIA briefer. When you've only got a certain amount of time to brief a full book, especially to a customer prone to interruptions and meandering commentary, you pick/choose the highlights to brief. Then you leave them the book. It's up to the customer then. https://twitter.com/CBS_Herridge/status/1278335346917486594
Depending on your customer, you may also brief pieces to a customer's staff (the ones that have access/clearance of course) so they can raise it directly with the customer if there isn't time for a briefing or you weren't able to get it into the briefing.
People are talking as if intel briefings are way more structured than they actually are. Sometimes you show up and the briefing is canceled, so you leave your books. Sometimes your 30 minutes gets cut to 30 seconds. Often you arrive mid-crisis & your plan goes out the window.
