Today's thread, "Why There Is No Way Out of the Culture Wars Without Jesus":
However you conceive of God, even if you deny His existence, you want Him to consider you righteous. But you are not righteous. You know this. And you don't know how to manufacture the righteousness you need in order for God to love you.
So you imagine that, if you are more righteous than your neighbor, God will love you. And in order to lift yourself up, you tear your neighbor down.
You point out how evil his views on issues X, Y, and Z are. You comb through his online life to find the filth you can point out to the world so you will look much holier by comparison.
You refuse to show him mercy because showing him mercy would cut off the source that you imagine your righteousness flows from--the wounds in his bleeding reputation.
And when you speak against his sins, you don't really care about he people he hurt because cancel culture is not about building a just world. It's about propping up the illusion that you are righteous.
This will not work. God is not impressed with you. He is not fooled by you. He knows you are a sinner. And you are now a worse sinner than when you began seeking righteousness in the blood of your neighbor.
So here's what you need to know. And you will destroy your soul and the world around you if you don't learn it: Righteousness does not come from within you. You cannot produce it. You cannot manufacture it.
God does not require you to be holier than your neighbor in order to inherit eternal life. He requires you to be as holy as he is. Perfect righteousness is what you need to give God. You can't do this.
But God has given you perfect righteousness, and He's given it to you in the blood of His Son Jesus Christ.
When Christ died for your sins, He erased them all from existence. Though you could not hide your sins from the eyes of God, God's only begotten Son destroyed all your sins through the shedding of His blood.
And all who believe receive that blood and the righteousness it gives. All who believe in Christ have, through faith, received everything God requires for them to inherit eternal life.
Do you want God to love you? Do you want Him to call you righteous? Then stop looking for righteousness in the blood of your neighbor. You'll only find death and condemnation there.

Look for righteousness in the blood of Christ. That's the only place it can be found.
Maybe you grew up with no familiarity with Christianity. Maybe you grew up in a bad church. Either when, if your perception of the Christian faith is that it's stupid and hateful, you're wrong. You don't know what you're talking about.
You may think organized religion is bad. But disorganized religion is worse. And the religion at the heart of our culture wars is a terrible one.
Joining the mob of people who pat themselves on the back for not being as racist/trasphobic/evil as the other people will not work. The mob does not love you. The mob does not respect you. The mob will eventually devour you.
Jesus loves you. You will not need to live in fear of Him. You won't have to hide your sins from Him. You won't have to worry that, one day, He'll air the ugly thoughts you've shared with him in order to mine righteousness from your guts.
Jesus was sacrificed for you. He will never sacrifice you to anyone or anything else. He will never fail you. He has already saved you.

So stop telling yourself that Christianity has nothing to offer you. Stop making an enemy of the church that will make you a friend of God.
Come to church. Come confess your sins and hear the word of forgiveness. Come receive the waters of salvation. Come learn how to love your neighbor with the love of God that was poured out for you on Calvary.

Come home. It's where you belong.
