little thread here: some background, my father could be considered “upper class” by most people out there. we have never wanted, always been stable, and i’ve received a lot of help from my parents. my dad and I just had a 30 minute talk about gov’t programs like welfare 1/?

my dad would be laregly effected by most of the tax increases progressives want to help fund systems like Welfare, MFA, Green New Deal, etc., and HE IS OKAY WITH IT. my dad went to med school, supported himself and our family, worked his ass off building a career he loves 2/?

And he STILL sees the value in people taking care of people. he thinks there need to be changes in some of these systems, we all agree, but he still supports getting HIGHER taxes, to take care of people that need help. pls don’t believe the bull-shit about self-made wealth 3/?

and how we need to “protect” it. my dad is self-made wealth, and he supports this because he knows it’s the RIGHT THING TO DO. please understand that taxes arent a punishment, they help protect us all. thank you to my dad for seeing that.
