1. The abusive culture within Evangelicalism could change overnight if local pastors who were aware of abusive leaders & churches grew a spine and were willing to confront said leaders privately rather than “stay in their lane” on the grounds of “church autonomy”
2. I’m telling you, abusive pastors thrive b/c local pastors who know what is going on say nothing. They believe it’s not their responsibility. Their “job” is only to care for THEIR flock. We have to crucify the idea that pastors are only charged with caring for THEIR members.
3. A pastor who knows sheep are being slaughtered somewhere is derelict in his charge if he does not seek to advocate for those in harms way. Church autonomy doesn’t not mean, in any way, that a shepherd can sit back knowingly as another shepherd devours his own sheep. God no.
