I started this account 80 days ago

I was a newbie

Yet I studied and analyzed ‘the game’ every day

I’ve been

- Selling through DM’s
- Writing sales tweets
- Reading courses

As a result I failed a lot

but more importantly I improved

And know I can share this with you

THREAD
During these 75 days

I’ve made a lot of mistakes when I was trying affiliate marketing

Mistakes I’ve learnt from

Mistakes I hope you won’t make after reading this thread

AFFILIATE MARKETING DO’S AND DONT’S - THREAD
1. Relevancy is Key

This might sound like common knowledge for you

I still see people making this mistake

You’ve to promote products that have something to do with what you’re normally tweeting about

If your account is about money

You won’t be able to sell a beauty product
Promoting a product that has little to do

with what you normally write about on Twitter isn’t smart

For starters it won’t convert and secondly it will annoy your readers

If you’re going to promote products make sure they’re relevant to your followers
2. Personalization Matters

Don’t post promotional tweets that identical to everyone else’s

Personalized tweets will always do better, same counts for a sales tweet

A personal recommendation is going to get a much better response in terms of conversations
Together with that it’s also less likely to hurt your relationship with your followers

Because the tweet will be in your ‘voice’

And hopefully out of your own experience with the product...
3. Genuine Recommendations

My policy with affiliate marketing is to only recommend products that I have used

Or have had someone close to me who I trust use and recommend

At first I promoted every affiliate link I got my hands on

Trust me when I say this, don’t do it!
This won’t only increase conversion

It’ll also help your reputation and stop you from promoting products that are rubbish

If you recommend a product that doesn’t work

Your own reputation and any trust you’ve built up with those who follow your advice will suffer
Don’t sacrifice your own brand/account for the sake of a few quick bucks...

If you want to make a consistently amount of money from affiliate marketing

You’ve to think long term

Not short term
4. Tweet sales post with moderation

In any affiliate marketing your audience will begin to ‘switch off’

They will become blind to your promotions

if you hit them too many times with promotional tweets
People follow you on the basis of what you’ve already written

If all you ever do is promote products you’re unlikely to grow

or become anyone with any kind of influence on Twitter

I would recommend to sticking with max 1 sales tweet every 10 tweets
5. Be Useful

This is a fairly general Twitter tip but it applies to affiliate marketing

If you’re going to promote a product make sure it’s highly useful to your followers

This is connected to being relevant – but goes beyond it
The more useful your Twittering is the more positive feedback you’ll from followers

I don’t know how it is for you

But for me the best feedback that I can possibly get after an affiliate sale

Is that they thanked me for recommending it because they found it useful
To me this is the ultimate feedback because it means

- I’ve not only made money

but more importantly

I‘ve a follower who is happy

Who remains loyal

And who is perhaps even more loyal than they were before

This all comes down to smart selection of products to promote
