women are supposed to lay their lives on the line for vulnerable males, sacrificing everything for their comfort and happiness. this is the assigned social role of women. speaking up for ourselves violates the most essential rules of womanhood
this is why men can get away with far worse when it comes to prioritizing their own needs & feelings, aggressively asserting facts, making rude or cruel jokes about others, etc. people genuinely don’t see the same actions as anywhere near as horrible coming from a man
sat through a discussion yesterday where people talked about how the famous men who’d expressed gender critical ideas on twitter were well meaning but misguided or had phrased things in a compelling way whereas jk rowling is an evil transphobic bitch and unforgivable criminal
