Things Won’t Be Better Than How High You Aim To

Goals are inevitable.

I tried to set, track, adjust, and in general use goals for the last 4 years… with much less success than I would love to admit.

But still, here are the lessons I've learned.

// A THREAD //
You Need a Mission First

Goals are checkpoints on your journey.

But if you don’t know where to go there is no journey.

- What were your natural talents as a child?

- How do you want to be remembered?

- What makes you "weird"?

Answer those questions first.
Goals Are Just Hints On How To Set Up Your Routine/Systems

Goals are good but systems are better.

Achieving your goals should be a byproduct of using your systems.

That's the ultimate goal.

Write 2 hours daily > Finish 2 articles
Going to the gym 3/week > Lose 5 pounds
Use Different Time Frames: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, Decade, or even Lifetime For Your Goals

Q: "How do you eat a whale?"

A: "One bite at a time".

Go top-down.

From macro to micro.

Don't forget to review your path after each period is over.

At least briefly.
Plan For The Next Day The Night Before

This is more a productivity hack, but it's so powerful that I include it here.

To reach your goals you need momentum.

Planning your day ahead (at least roughly) will help you immensely.
5. Make Sure The Goal Gives You More Energy In The Long Run Than It Takes

Energy is everything.

It's linked to:

✅ Focus
✅ Flow
✅ Happiness

If your goal costs you more energy in the long run than it gives you...

Re-think it.

It may be painful but it worths it.
Thanks for reading!

I've learned all those things the hard way so I hope you may make new and better mistakes than me.
