Oooof! The 2017 USGS pesticide use data came out recently and it's not good. Just look at what happened the first year dicamba was approved on GE crops
USGS makes high-end and low-end estimates. These graphs are made with the low-end estimates and likely underestimate use

Other herbicides, like glyphosate and atrazine, are staying steady, indicating that they are not being replaced. Rather, herbicides are being combined - increasing the total pesticide load in the environment
Very worrisome, as we are moving in the wrong direction

Which brings us to this monstrosity. Bayer's new corn, resistant to 5 herbicides. All of the associated herbicides are already approved for over-the-top use on corn except dicamba.
So once this gets rubber-stamped by USDA, there is no further oversight https://civileats.com/2020/07/01/bayer-forges-ahead-with-new-crops-resistant-to-5-herbicides-glyphosate-dicamba-2-4-d-glufosinate-quizalofop/

This is absolute insanity and could only happen in a country whose regulatory system is completely broken.
It's hard to overstate how regressive this is when, in 2020, we are still allowing this massive increase in pesticide load in the environment
