Alright, here's my thread of weird shit in the Final Fantasy games. Let's GO 👇👇👇:
let's start with good ol' final fantasy 1: when you obtain the ship you can access a slide puzzle of all things if you're in said ship and hold the A button while pressing the B button 55 times
In Final Fantasy IX you can encounter statue-like enemies called Epitaphs, apparently made of stone. If you use the item Soft (normally used to cure petrification) on them, well...
the talk icon in Final Fantasy XII is a speech bubble with a smiley face, which is cute. When you reach the Draklor Laboratory you see dead & hurt soldiers lying across the floor, some who you can still talk to, resulting in them looking way too content about their situation
also in FF12, there's a rare white chocobo called the Trickster who heroically saved the moogle Gurdy from bandits. Gurdy gives her thanks by petitioning a hunt to have it killed. You HAVE to kill this innocent chocobo if you want to finish all the game's hunt quests
this is what true evil looks like
Quelb is a village full of werewolves in Final Fantasy V. There are no other werewolf villages anywhere else, them specifically being werewolves has no impact on the plot, and they never even turn human even during daytime. They're just chillin
did you know you can fight ice hockey players in FF8
and who can forget the iconic Final Fantasy VII enemy... Touch Me
One of the more famous typos in FF is a kid in FFX who proudly declares his plans of becoming a blitzball. It was a typo in japanese version that was translated to english - but while the japanese typo was corrected in the HD remaster, the english version thankfully left it in
according to FF crisis core, Sephiroth uses whole bottles of perfumed hair care products every time he takes a shower, which explains a lot
Chocobos first appeared in FF2 and hadn't been established as these cute, fluffy yellow birds yet, so Yoshitaka Amano's original chocobo artwork looked like THIS
in FF9 you can potentially ruin(or enhance, depending on your sense of humour) the tearful & heartwarming ending by immediately starting a game of blackjack after the credits roll
if you claim to be a master of dissidia in dissidia 012's opening tutorial (entirely possible if you played the original & already know the combat), the game makes you pay dearly for your hubris by pitting your level 1 character against Feral Chaos, the game's lv 130 superboss
speaking of superbosses.. as you may know, FF1 is very traditionally set in a medieval fantasy setting, arguably more so than any other FF game. But then you have this Warmech who has a 3/64 chance to show up and nuke your party. It's the ONLY non-organic foe in the game.
it's treated as the first superboss in the series as it has very high HP and hits ABSURDLY hard. It's considered by many to be more difficult that the final boss itself!!
In FF6 Locke had a girlfriend who died, so like any normal non-creepy person he keeps her corpse in the local madman's basement until he finds a way to bring her back
also, it plays the perfect background music during this revelation:
FFIV is very dramatic. FFIV lets you see the main character's thoughts if you press the menu button. In FFIV you can be afflicted with the Frog or Pig status effects. The result:
I appreciate that you can bribe the fearsome superboss Ultima Weapon with gil and it'll just turn around and leave
let's not forget the incredibly creepy debug room in FFVII
In FFIV DS you can find the secret Developer's Office, inhabited by the creators of the game. My favourite is the Nobuo Uematsu expy who pretends to be a farmer and says nothing else
In one city you can go visit a, uh, pub. Just... just a normal pub, you guys.... nothing to see here
therapist: buff tidus is not real and cannot hurt you

buff tidus:
one of my favourite things about Final Fantasy III is this wildly inaccurate line. I guess they don't teach astronomy in the Warriors of the Dark's home world
In Final Fantasy IX one of the bosses is Black Waltz 3, who has orders to bring back Dagger alive to the castle. The second time you fight him he's been driven mad and if Dagger is the only one standing in the party, he snaps his neck(?? or something to that effect) until he dies
And then there's the mimic Gogo from FF6, by far the most obscure character to find - you have to find them at the bottom of a hidden dungeon ONLY found by letting a specific monster(only found on a very specific part of the map) eat you
apparently Gogo was supposed to be obtainable in another (imo more straightforward) way, but apparently the developers thought that it was "too difficult" and changed it to the version we have now
In FFIV (yes again, this entire game is weird) there is a girl who offers a dance. If you pick yes, she'll transform into a monk, start dancing around on the chairs, and then turn around and promptly change back into a dancer girl. It gives you nothing & is never adressed again.
One of my favourite weird FF things: If you use the "Devour" command in battle in FF8 the screen will change into a photo of a serene field with the words "Censored... please stand by" scrolling over the screen, while your character presumably just. eats the enemy
Ever tried using the cool-looking skill Thunder Slash in FF9? Well, you shouldn't, because due to a bug it is almost guaranteed to miss every single time. As for me, I forget this every time I replay the game and end up looking like a fool
In FF9 moogles save your data, and you can call a moogle at any time while on the world map. If you keep calling the moogle & dismissing him without saving over and over, he eventually gets so pissed off he starts shouting at you
There's also a moogle swearing at you in FF9 as well. The moogles in this game are spicy

You can very easily defeat the final boss in FF Mystic Quest by having Benjamin simply cast Cure on him. This breaks the damage limit and does more than 10 000 damage on the boss due to an overflow error.
seems like yuna put her summoner/pop star career behind her to pursue yet another job as a hairstyle model
When interacting with a fountain in Lindblum, Zidane alludes to some kind of medal. Could this be a sidequest, perhaps...? No, not at all - it's just a reference to Resident Evil 2, and if you don't know that you'll be stuck for hours trying to solve the mystery of the fountain
the monks of Fabul in FF4 are SUPPOSED to make generic fighting sounds, but due to poor translation it just looks like all they all have a bad case of the common cold
Vaan's freaky abs haunts my nightmares still
Exdeath, the main antagonist of FF5, is basically the world's most evil tree and has the incredible(?) power to turn himself into a splinter to keep track of the party. This is why he's the best FF villain, don't @ me
presented without context
Also I've been corrected (many times) that the Warmech from FF1 is NOT the only mechanical foe in the game, so ignore that part! The rest of the info about it is true 👍
