I began volunteering with GDS two years ago, and it has become such an important part of my life. Every Monday night we meet as a group and provide one to one support for Scouts aged 6 to 25 with a range of disabilities and additional needs.
This is genuinely a highlight of my week, and I never fail to leave without a smile on my face!

Like any Scout group, our Scouts love exploring and adventure, and our weekend camps are a big part of this ⛺️🔥 🍫
However, unfortunately our base for weekend camps – Glengoyne Lodge – was built in 1977 and no longer meets our accessibility requirements or the complex care needs of many of the young people we support. That’s why we’ve developed plans to comprehensively redevelop the building!
In doing so we will improve the lodge’s accessibility and expand the type of support we can provide for young people. The proposed development is budgeted at £250,000, of which we’ve already raised 85%...
BUT there’s still a lot left to be raised! To reach our goal, GDS have launched a fundraising challenge. As a result, I will be travelling 293km over the month of July by running and cycling, and I really hope you can help my team mate and I along the way!! 🚲🚲🚲
