I’m sure Obama and his team saw it as a positive test of his diplomacy and calmness, but Republicans and the media saw it as a confirmation of what they would be allowed to get away with for the next eight years.

Everything that followed that— ACORN, the ACA, etc., became Republicans weaponing fake outrage to make Democrats too scared to do anything, even with a historic majority. Their reward for this cowering was to lose Congress.

I know I keep pointing this out but this is what terrifies so many people about Biden, not losing to Trump, but honestly believing he can just be Obama again, as if that was a good thing.

What Biden means by “being like Obama” is returning liberals to that West Wing-style feeling that it’s just a good thing that a Democrat is president. Doesn’t matter that absolutely nothing is actually being accomplished, it’s just… Feels nice.

As many are painfully trying to get through everyone’s heads, making the election 100% about getting rid of Donald Trump works great for a single election when your opponent is Donald Trump, so… Then what?

This was, to a large degree, what destroyed the Obama administration. Obama ran on huge hatred of George W. Bush, and the image of being a somewhat liberal progressive alternative to overt right-wing conservatism.

The liberal response to millions of people flabbergasted at his quisling centrism was to scoff at them and go “well you sure were stupid for thinking he was a lefty, weren’t you?” Cut to: Republicans take over 1000 seats across the country.

Joe Biden is openly saying-hell, he is running on it as a positive-that he has absolutely no intention to bring a fight to the Republican party. A party that is literally electing conspiracy theorists who are going to give him more shit than the tea party ever gave Obama.

I want Trump gone, but I also don’t want another Trump. If you really don’t care about this, truly, truly only care about your video game ending and getting rid of Trump, fine. But I’m not going through this shit again. Do not even dare to say we didn’t warn you.
