Further to @patrickbaud's thread on the Canadian constitution, a few institutional/constitutional things we should strive for:

a) a coherent concept of the Canadian state that better balances federal/provincial roles and reconciles national sovereignty with Indigenous autonomy.
b) getting over our fear of constitutional amendments to make a) happen and avoid institutional ossification and decay

c) revive the importance of the legislative powers vis-à-vis executive dominance and judicial supremacy
d) make municipalities their own order of government

e) further to @EmmMacfarlane's point, make transparency the default in government

f) further to a) recognize the utility of an upper house, but elect it via PR

g) move toward MMP for the Commons, further to c)
