I wish there were better leadership in NJ on schools

I wish playgrounds reopened sooner

I wish we had not reopened places like nail salons, which are high risk

But I’m glad Murphy reconsidered reopening indoor dining. It’s not safe; it will not be safe for a long time.
my family is well into the “calculated risk” stage of this thing. after initially isolating from each other when quarantine started, we eventually had our nanny come back. it was and still is a risk, that we’ve done everything we can to mitigate as much as possible.
next week we rented a place next to a beach - a place we can drive to without stopping, that I can double-extra sanitize when we get there, and that I am hoping will be lowkey enough that we can safely play on the beach for a while
all of which is to say - not being able to live with the safest, most zero-risk situation is something I get. having our nanny come back is not zero-risk; this trip will not be either. I worry about both, a lot, but we’re doing them.
but part of what makes that feel okay is that we’re picking those risks and doing our absolute best to cut out anything else. masks any time we’re around people, no crowded stores even with masks, extremely limited shopping trips, etc etc etc
eat INSIDE a restaurant though!???!!

no fucking way
the other reason I posted this is I feel like I need to be super transparent about the fact that we’ve had some childcare over the last few months. it’s not full time, but obviously it’s a MASSIVE factor in our lives.
it would not be humanly possible for me to do the amount of writing I’ve done since April without some childcare; I did not just “adjust to a new norm” or “magically find more time.”

no.
