[1/10] I am absolutely appalled and furious at the events of the last 8 days in Edinburgh, where a father and NHS key worker, and a 3 year old child have been killed on Edinburgh's roads and...
[2/10] ...pavements, and a 7 year old boy and 24 year old man have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

I cycle for both exercise and - pre-covid - to commute to and from work and have always been sadly aware of how dangerous the cities roads are for both...
[3/10] ...cyclists and pedestrians, with repeated enforcement of the "car is king" subtext coming from council members by way of planning decisions and heel-dragging regarding even the slightest form of safe active travel infrastructure. I'm angry that a 3 YEAR OLD CHILD and...
[4/10] ...his mother cannot even walk to the shops ON THE PAVEMENT without a very real risk of being killed or seriously injured, and my heartfelt sympathies go out to the mother and the family for their loss.
I'm angry that a father and NHS key worker cannot cycle in...
[5/10] ...the city without being killed in your (and my) ward, particularly when improvements to Gilmerton Road's active travel infrastructure have been so lacking for so long and seem never to materialise.
I'm angry that there's always money for new roads, and even £120m...
[6/10] ...for a single new roundabout which studies have shown will not help ease congestion, while any sort of active travel has a pitiful budget and projects take YEARS to come to fruition.
I'm angry that @policescotland are - in my experience - largely completely inept at...
[7/10] ...dealing with any road traffic incidents, refusing to refer cases to the courts with pathetic excuses, and that I have had to make multiple formal complaints at the lack of action.
I'm angry that the city council allows these incidents to happen to its citizens...
[8/10] ...and that these awful incidents are usually forgotten about with no lessons learned, or if we're really lucky - a little more paint and signs on the road.

I am absolutely fed up with the state of this. As the image in my first tweet says; I am not an activist, ...
[9/10] ...lobbyist or hard left - I just want people to be able to travel around Edinburgh without requiring a 1 tonne armoured cage to protect them.

Any number of deaths or injuries is too many, but 2 deaths in 5 days and 2 further serious injuries in 8 is absolutely ludicrous.
[10/10] The time for sympathies and talk is well and truly over. Edinburgh needs its elected representatives to step up and to actually take action to at least TRY to mitigate these incidents through providing adequate infrastructure for its citizens and visitors.
