1)Trump: I’ll veto the entire Defense bill if it requires renaming bases honoring Confederate generals. He should see the 1850’s posters my co-teacher John Hope Franklin showed me advertising the sexual features of 14 year old girls being offered for sale. Someone’s daughters.
2) This is part of the system those Confederate Generals defended. Trump argues that we won 2 world wars with troops from the bases named for those Generals. Does he really believe we won because of the NAMES of those bases?
3) Does he know history? Does he know logic? The plan is not to close those honorable bases, but simply rename them for some honorable US soldiers and officers who fought for the the United States of America, not against it.
4) And while we are at it, we should name some of them, not just for generals, but for some truly heroic enlisted soldiers
