Yesterday’s speech by @BorisJohnson spoke about kickstarting the economy. And focussed on batteries and electric vehicles in Dudley. He rightly pointed to the investment we need to make to boost Britain's place in the new industrial revolution. 1/7
Today’s news from Hong Kong showed that China’s plans for free and open societies undermine the liberties we think essential. It comes along with reports of the mass sterilisations of Muslims.

Britain has a choice as it invests for the future:
Do we deepen our dependence on a nation whose values are clearly diverging from our own by doubling down on their tech?

If we get this right, we can:
1 - Achieve a greener future
2 - Break our energy dependence on foreign states
3 - Become global leaders in energy tech.
That would get us out of the covid crisis and into a new world of opportunity for British firms.
That's worth investment. 7/7
