the mormon church doesn't even claim "mormon" anymore so basically it's punk now to call oneself Mormon
there's plenty of LDS restorationist churches that aren't tcojcolds founded on tbom/Joseph Smith that are encompassed by terms like "mormonism" that don't necessarily claim "mormon" as a descriptor
so basically, again, it's kinda punk to call oneself Mormon

One can definitely claim membership to/activity in tcojcolds without paying tithing *to* tcojcolds. For example- paying tithing as fast offering (since it at LEAST supposedly goes to the church's charitable food industries and not other stuff), or donating to outside charity.
There still, of course, remains the issue of various LDS restorationist sects' historical and/or present ties to settler colonialist ideals, white supremacy, religious imperialism, slavery, patriarchy, compulsory polygamy, queer erasure and suppression, and other forms of abuse.
However- I do believe there are ways to maintain some ties to Mormonism whilst divorcing it from its problematic past and maintaining some sense of Mormon culture and identity.
i gotta sleep but I'll revisit this tomorrow, i have many more thoughts. I also have to offer a disclaimer that I'm still sorting through my personal thoughts when it comes to this broader discussion re:Queer Mormonism and its harm vs benefits. Anyway love and light
brb!
