New rule: If you have NOT got an intersex trait, DSD or VSC (whichever language you choose), stop using our lives in your conceptual arguments about sex/gender. Sex characteristics aren't simple and you can't generalise intersex lives to say we're all non-binary. 1/
I probably have to say this at least once a month but again: Some intersex people are male, some are female and some are non-binary. A person may have a non-binary SEX but their gender may still be binary. Whether you're intersex or not, stop policing other people's lives. 2/
Many of us have complex relationships with ideas about sex and gender. Some people may have studied it from different perspectives. Other people may be comfortable with whatever they were assigned at birth. Not all intersex people want an "X" marker and some of them do. 3/
Some people will say they're intersex, some will say that they're male/female with intersex traits or that they have a DSD/variation of sex characteristics. I know we like to simplify things (that's how we got into this mess), but understand that there are many experiences 4/
My point, as always is, behind these theories and individual experiences, which are framed as 'one intersex story' - there are differences. Some will prefer medicalised views others will advocate for alternatives like law or sociology. 5/
I started this project to share a multitude of views because we are not all the same. We may all be united in ending irreversible cosmetic procedures on intersex children but we don't all have the same circumstances. 6/
