Buddhism and Defence: (A Thread)
The bramanical Historians and Hindutva writers always Spread false History that in Buddhist time India was prone to Foreign invasions to defame Buddhism

India known as "Jambudviipa" during Ashoka's (Mauryan Empire) reign was Most protected ,The Vast Mauryan Empire had close relations with Indo-greek ,Sri-lanka,Nepal etc The Embracement of Buddhism was reason For Peace among all,Even Buddhist kings post Mauryan defended India

The Emperors Always protected Buddhism,Ashoka had strict policies for violaters and used force to keep Dhamma protected ,Milinda even after becoming Buddhist defended his empire as sources said he died during military campaign

"The Buddha was against violence but he was in favour of Justice and where justice required he permitted the use of force "This is well illustrated in his dialogue with Sinha Senapati and Is well Discussed in DR B.R Ambedkar's work named "Buddha or Karl Marx"

The Buddhist Literature and Art is full of imagery showing how Buddha and Buddhism is defended By "Protectors of Dhamma"
The Greco-Buddhist Art from 2nd shows Hercules as "Vajrapani" protecting Dhamma

Mucalinda is shown protecting "Buddha" which is depiction of Naga king protecting Buddha ,In SE art it's Dragon shown protecting Buddhism

Hence Buddhism and it's interests were protected By Emperors and Kings and That safeguarded The Buddhist Kingdoms like Mauryan Empire from any Foreign Invasions

But When Bramhin king Pusyamitra Shugna who was Conspired and assassinated "Brihadratha" the last Mauryan emperor ,Buddhism lost The protection it had and Shugna destroyed stupas, monastries and killed Monks

This Attack on Buddhism brought weakness to India and Various Kings like Demetrius and The Scyntians Brought Fragmentations/divisions To United India which was formed in Maurayan period

The Shugna empire brought Bramanical supremacy which led to persecution of Buddhist and malpractices like caste system got rigid ,Emergence of untouchablity led to weakness in Unity leading to foreign invasions like Huns ,Turks etc

The Buddhist who survived from this holocaust ,developed the teachings of Buddha on using force to serve Justice and thus monks too started learning "Art of defence "

Buddhist like Buddhabhadra and Bodhidharma who took Chan Buddhism to China are often known for Teaching Martial arts to monks
The Shaolin who worship them uses Martial arts to defend Buddhism
Tsang sources show how Shaolin Monks would use Defense technique to serve justice

Fudo myoo/Acala is a deity known for protecting Buddha
The Samurai after knowing about Buddhist Holocaust, took oath to protect Buddhism by worshiping Acala
They Guarded Buddhism for centuries

The Buddha was ahead of Time
But the World is not ,Peace was his Principle but to avoid Genocide history is evident how Buddhist used force to Serve justice
