How do you decide what path to take? Should you go towards the engineering side, marketing, sales, PM, technical PM, etc? How do you decide when you are looking to transition into another vertical?
Here's a framework I came up with on how to think about it:

While reading this book "Inspired" (By @cagan) I have realized that any product company broadly does three things:
1. What product to build, and why build it?
2. How to build it?
3. How to get adoption?

1. What product to build, and why build it?

2. How to build it?

3. How to get adoption?

(1/8)
(What
) First is broadly what a PM does, along with other key stakeholders. They define what product to build, what it entails, what market to go after, why are we building it, etc.

(2/8)
(How
) Second is broadly what engg. does along with designers. (IMO Designers stand somewhere between 1 and 2). They define what the architecture should be like, what is possible in what time frame etc. They take a feature requirement on paper and convert it into reality.

(3/8)
(Adoption
) Third is about taking what has been built and announcing it to the world. It is mainly the job of marketing and sales to drive adoption.

Question is where is your inclination?
What excites you the most out of these:

?
If
then you should work towards being a PM.
If
then lean towards engg. side.
If
+
+
then lean towards design side.
If
then lean towards sales or marketing side.

Over the years, I have worked as an Engineer at @helpshift, where I learned how to do
. After that, I was part of various #Crypto startup communities learning about
. Finally, I was a co-founder at @OwnedLabs learning to do all functions

simultaneously.

For me, it's time to deep dive into
.
What should we build/not to build?
Who are we building it for?
Why are we building it?
How are we going to be different from what exists today?
How do we prioritize it?
What is the actual problem we are trying to solve?

Looking forward to this new journey of learning anything and everything about being a #productmanager
I'll be writing more about my journey, lessons, etc here on twitter. If you are interested you can follow me. My DMs are open if you have any questions.
