the worst thing about the #DMsGuild situation is the catch-22 of it
If I tackle institutional homophobia publicly, companies throw their frontline staff (who don't necessarily disagree with me) to the lions and call it a day
If I don't handle it publicly, then nothing changes

at the end of the day I want the right people held accountable for this
I just have no idea how to pin this on some nebulous shadowy creature in the background
All the while marginalized creators and staff on both sides are being hurt

It feels like a hostage situation
"Stop making a fuss, you're only hurting people you know and respect"
It's exhausting. And unfair. And emotional blackmail exercised by invisible higher ups, pitting people against each other who have literally no reason to fight.

"You'll be treated fairly only if you drag us through fire and hell to make it happen, and even then we'll make sure you burn every professional bridge we can force you to on the way by firing or censuring your friends and acquaintances"
So this is another ask for people to remember who the enemy is, and it's probably not the people doing the social media work to engage with us
I don't know if that's a good enough reason to roll over. Or what the alternative is.
But I'm sad, tired and ugh.
