People think my partner and I are overreacting because of the measures that we have in place to keep me safe but this is why. I'm an Indigenous woman who has Lupus and my immune system is compromised. https://twitter.com/stevenspohn/status/1278096633406906369
I have fought like hell all my life to live and I've had some close calls but I'm Indigenous & stubborn as hell so here I still stand. But I am deathly afraid of Covid-19 because I wouldn't be given the chance to fight because of the ableism & racism of the healthcare industry
Despite the fact that I have take every precaution recommended plus more, despite all that I have survived and overcome...none of that will be taken into account and resources will most likely be prioritized for the selfish assholes not wearing masks or taking any precautions.
So people can think that we're overreacting but we're taking the precautions that everyone should be taking right now and we are in a very fortunate position because we have my tee shop that has been helping us to scrape by because of the love of the community that we have.
Tomorrow @UAIIinc will be dropping off a food box for us and I recently received a $500 grant from the Dream Warriors artist relief fund, $450 that went right to my medical bills and $50 to pay for one of my meds.
We've been scraping by and it's so damn hard and getting harder because now more and more people are facing financial uncertainty and fearing what happens if and when they get sick.
We've even become more strict with our precautions because my health sucks right now and I'm fighting off a massive Lupus flare and hoping not to get septic again. I also just lost my uncle to Covid19 last week and almost lost my aunt as well.
My aunt has Lupus as well and she survived. Disabilities...chronic illness shouldn't be used to deny us medical care or used as a measure of our survivability. We deserve medical care and the opportunity to live even if we have to fight like hell https://twitter.com/johnniejae/status/1275128539537276928?s=19
Because we will...we've been doing it all our lives and only we determine or should be able to determine whether or not our quality of life is worth living.
