Everyone knows that the justice system will doggedly seek retribution on behalf of killed police officers. The Tulsa DA’s office filed charges against the alleged assailant within hours. Elected officials have repeatedly spoken out condemning the shooting (rightfully so).
No one needs to be pushed to seek justice for slain officers. That’s why comments like “where is the outrage?!?” are so asinine. Our justice system works to protect them, we don’t need to be outraged at the justice system failing them because it won’t.
Compare that to the hemming and hawing by elected officials when police kill unarmed people of color. Compare that to DAs who drag their feet before undercharging police officers who we see commit murder on camera. The people with power in our society will not
seek justice on behalf of those murdered by police. But they will quickly and ferociously marshal all of their resources to seek justice on behalf of the police.
