so many queers like 17-24 are so reactionary and lash out at easy targets on the internet instead of taking their concerns to people actually in power, and they're not nearly as woke as they think they are
like i'm begging you to slow down and consider who your targets are and what you're hoping to achieve. are you just looking to hurt someone because you've been hurt? to hurt someone you CAN hurt, whether your hurt is their fault or not?
do you want to re-establish dominance over a person part of a group that's marginalized in some way relative to you because you feel a loss of control? and you want that control back? i'm serious. interrogate what you're doing and why. this isn't good for you or anyone else
also if you've been out here with us calling for abolition and transformative justice while acting like this: consider how the way you treat conflict fundamentally goes against those things. do some reading. find better outlets for your anger and pain.
it does actually break my heart! you're (i mean, we're, i'm 26) inheriting a shitty world full of broken promises. we've got every right to be mad. but you have to interrogate the ways in which you affect other people. the reasons you hurt them
and you have to think about how you're expending your energy, and how better you can expend that energy if what you DO want is real change and not the short-term pleasure of being an asshole online
there’s either some confusion or people can’t read: i’m talking about people who engage in mobbing behavior against marginalized targets (usually queer people) for ships or fanart or perceived slights. it’s extremely common from this group
what prompted this was a bunch of (majority white) lesbians in this age group attacking a Black illustrator over a decision made by google to exclude the lesbian pride flag from an illustration. this shit happens daily on here
