A 'be kind to yourself, but also kick yourself in the ass when needed' thought:
two things can be true.

I want to type, "that's it, that's the tweet"- but it's not \\- because as simple as that statement is, it challenges a lot about the way we build our worldview. A thread. 1/x
We're losing our chill, and more importantly, our nuance. It's probably unsurprising that in a digital world our tribalism is evolving in a binary fashion. But we can't do that for everything all the time- it will never, ever be as simple as off or on, 1 or 0, for all things. 2/x
I'm a study in this: I have to think critically about myself as I delve deeper into the things I'm passionate about that I feel are important to the world. I also see complex, intelligent people shutting off or shutting down trying to apply one stance/viewpoint/party/ideology 3/x
to EVERYTHING in their life, who become habituated to unreason. You are more than one thing. You might even find... (gasp) two things can be true. Don't bow out of the responsibility you have to yourself or the world around you to think critically about what you stand for. 4/x
I believe strongly in personal property rights and personal responsibility, but also in robust social programs. I'm an enthusiastic firearms owner & sport shooter, but don't participate in subsistence or trophy hunting. I think #cryptocurrency and #blockchain are crucial, 5/x
but also that there is a need for small, organized local governance. I feel that $BTC is one of the most important things on earth, but believe that other forms of disruptive tech and blockchain for transfer of value (above and beyond simple 'wealth') are also truly critical. 6/x
It's a time of lots of loud nuance and complexity, and embracing one unyielding pole seems easiest. Many are quiet as we try to get a handle on where we fit and what we need to do- but the only way to know is to collect info & build a plan. You can find truths in any "side." 7/x
Remember that you're complex, and that you probably believe in things people will try to tell you aren't congruent. I just want to remind you that doing your best to build the world you want means a lot of hard thinking and challenging your ideas to make sure they're right. 8/x
I'm 'in progress'. I don't want to be a sheep. I want to be self sovereign. I want to be valuable to my community. I want to stand up for others. Counterculture is necessary to the evolution of culture- not in spite of it, yet burning the world down doesn't guarantee growth. 9/x
You're not a traitor- to your country, party, family, friends, society, peers- if you spend time considering and building your worldview beyond min/maximalism. Two things can be true. Complexity is hard, but it's valuable to development. Keep at it, be a great you. It matters~ xo
