We've been busy surveying principals, coaches, and athletic directors for their input on return to school sport, and analyzing their responses to help inform our COVID-19 response.

Here are some of our findings:
We had 2494 respondents, with a mixture of roles and and school sizes.
90% of coaches said they would be comfortable returning to coaching school sport when it was deemed safe to do so.

The sports that will be most affected are: volleyball, rugby, track & field, and basketball.
(Cheerleading, curling, team handball, and wrestling did not have big enough sample sizes to draw conclusions from)
We asked respondents to indicate what they felt was the correlation between school athletics and learning outcomes on a scale of 1-100, with 1 being an absolute negative correlation and 100 being absolute positive.

The average response was 80.
We also surveyed respondents on whether or not they would prefer sport modifications for added precautions (e.g., 3-on-3 basketball instead of 5-on-5).

94% of respondents did not want to see school sport modifications due to COVID-19.
We also asked respondents their opinion on potential options, should there be significant challenges with running school sport in 2020-21 due to COVID-19.

The responses varied geographically and by role, but most centred around a season of play variation.
We did ask about travel restrictions, but there is understandably lots of uncertainty around this topic.

Currently, urban areas are more likely to have travel restrictions in place than rural areas.
