• Melasanti ( chief priest) enters the temple at 2:30 am on an empty stomach does not eat or drink anything till 12:30pm
• Complete vedic traditions are followed with no deviation

• Lord is antoined with oil
• Then sprinkled with "vaka" a herbal powder for an added hue
• Sacred mantras are chanted when the God is given a bath
• Devotees throng to drink this water as it said to have a lot of medicinal properties

FESTIVE ACTIVITIES
• the temple is famous for
- Choorun - Annaprasham ( feeding rice for the first time to a child )
- Tulabaram ( weighing oneself with sugar / yam / jaggery etc and donating it to the temple )
- Kalyanam ( marriage )

ARCHITECTURE
• Inner courtyard
- magnificent wall paintings with vegetables dyes dating back to 17th Century
• Roof and two doors of the temple are covered with Gold

•Dhawaja of the temple is on the Eastern side of the temple which is 33m tall and plated with gold
• 7m tall pillar of lamps known as Dipastambam which is adjacent to the flag.
The Dipastambam has 13 circular receptacles on top of each other which look beautiful when lit.
