Ok so there are 2 very clear reactions to this "iPhone 12 won't come with a charger in the box" story and it's worth understanding BOTH sides because they can both be right:
Reaction #1: Is this a joke? $1000 for a phone and the most necessary accessory is sold separately? Has a phone ever shipped with no charger in the box? This is a new level of greed. Classic Apple, about to make a LOT of money creating a problem and selling the solution.
Reaction #2: Good. Less e-waste at scale. Almost everyone has a charger already anyway. If people want a fast/wireless charger, they can still get one.

~300,000 TONS of e-waste came just from in-box chargers last year. Great summary by @backlon here: https://www.theverge.com/2020/6/30/21307463/apple-iphone-12-power-adapter-charger-rumor-usb-c
Apple will either not address this at all on stage during the event, OR they'll come straight at it from the environmental angle

Plus this is a big win for companies like Anker and others who make cheaper lightning (yeah it's gonna be lightning again) chargers. Food for thought
