I am absolutely beside myself right now.
Just read a letter from the headmistress of my daughterā€™s school- telling me they are going to ā€œde-coloniseā€ the curriculum and that lessons/events will be created around #BLM
Iā€™m attaching screenshots of letter and flyer.
I do not want my innocent child to be taught that she is inherently racist/privileged because of an immutable characteristic. I do not want black children to be taught that they are victims of white people when they live in a society that is not racist and strives to be fair.
I do not want a neo Marxist organisation to be promoted in schools. An organisation that wants to defund police and bring down capitalism.
Iā€™m furious that teachers would entertain such a divisive and destructive element.
@toadmeister this is a school in Richmond. You and I have spoken before as I wanted my child to go to WLFS. Any advice as to how to tackle this, as it appears you cannot object to BLM or identity/woke politics without being accused of something dreadful.
Just before school broke up- my daughter was playing football with her mates in the playground. They separated themselves into a black and a white team. Lighthearted. Having fun. Teacher came up and told them to stop as it was racist.
Canā€™t separate themselves on that basis!
Except if itā€™s the teachers telling them all that one group is the helpless victim and the other the privileged oppressor! Itā€™s okay to do that apparently.
To all those suggesting I home school or remove- what good is this?
I can protect the mind of my own child but not the hundreds of other kids by doing this.
They are our future and the society my own child will have to live amongst. This is not something I can fight alone.
Wish me luck.

9am meeting.
Hello everyone. Thanks so much for the good wishes. šŸ’•
All went okay.
The head and an assistant principal met with me and were very pleasant and personable.
The impression I got was that the propaganda leaflet was sent without much thought for the ideology it is rooted in...
and was somewhat of a knee jerk reaction to current events unfolding quickly and parents asking how they should talk to their children about it all.

I was reassured by the head assuring me that the school does not endorse a political ideology and they do not intend to...
proliferate those ideas.

I did present my concerns about the use of the term ā€œBlack Lives Matterā€. The head said what I was expecting to hear and that was ā€œmaking the differentiation between the movement and the organisation.ā€
The problem I have with this is that every time...
that term is used, it promotes the organisation- and the organisation is openly Marxist/based is black supremacy and a divisive ideology. Neither teacher was aware that BLM declare themselves Marxist or that their funding goes straight to democrat coffers and not to improve...
black lives.
I also pointed out that if they are going to be using the term ā€œBlack Lives Matterā€ they would be compelled to articulate to the children exactly who they are and what their demands/policies are.
Both sides must be presented- or not at all.
I was buoyed by both teachers saying they will do more research into the organisation and their aims.

Both teachers impressed upon me that they only want to be more inclusive and not to take a particular political standpoint.

I pointed out that I felt much of it was insidious
and full of good intentions but that we are in danger of introducing toxic phrases such as ā€œwhite fragilityā€ and ā€œwhite privilegeā€ as if they are qualified facts, rather than opinion- and that Iā€™m concerned about those things be normalised.
Overall I feel quite relieved.
I was concerned that BLM literature/fundraisers might be embedding themselves in the school system and that had me very anxious.
However - that does not appear to be the case.

Thanks for reading/support me.
I really appreciate it. šŸ’šŸ’•
